See catalog #GR136 for the 2019 LP/CD/Digital reissue "Angherr Shisspa: Revisited" - which has been cut for vinyl by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering and includes three live bonus tracks on the new CD edition.
DESCRIPTION:
Some bands you just have to hear. Japan's KOENJIHYAKKEI (aka Koenji Hyakkei aka 高円寺百景 aka Hundred Sights of Koenji) are just such a band. Headed by vocalist / composer / drummer extraordinaire Tatsuya Yoshida (of the renowned bass and drum duo RUINS), KOENJIHYAKKEI is Area and ELP at their most excessive; Deus Ex Machina with tempo changes multiplied by 100; and Magma at their orff-ian choral, fusion jazz, overcharged gospel peak.
In the heady, heavy prog-circles, Koenji is already firmly established; renowned as the ultimate contemporary progressive rock outfit; with three albums and a live dvd released in their native Japan and heavily exported around the world. KOENJIHYAKKEI explodes with glittery keyboard lines, speedy bass/drum workouts, emotive reed respites, and operatic female vocals that take the listener from sheer exuberance to absolute apocalypse... And all this is performed with superhuman technique in extremely catchy, complex arrangements.

Wow it's been a loooong time since I've been this excited about a prog album. PoiL and Ni are great bands in their own rights, but this project is so much more than the sum of its parts. I've not heard anything else quite like it, it's never boring. If I didn't know better I'd think these dudes are all actual wizards, especially with that band photo. 11/10 strongly recommended.

This is truly one of the finest Zeuhl albums I have ever heard, right there with the best Magma, along with Eskaton, Ga'an and even a bit of King Crimson. It's all here, heavy bass, electric piano, synths, piano, sax, female voices, guitar and drums. Aurélie Saintecroix has such an incredible voice even though it's largely wordless, her performance blew me away. Plus the compositions are long but amazing throughout, no dead spots. What more could you want?

Just a beautiful jazzy rap album with buttery smooth flows versed with huge talent. It's not only lovely to the ears, but the lyrics are profound and empowering about the struggles that she faces.
